EMOBROTHER

The EMOBROTHER Spring/Summer 2026 collection draws inspiration from Leos Carax’s 1986 film *Mauvais Sang* (Bad Blood). Set against the backdrop of the late Cold War, the film captures a generation of youth yearning for freedom amidst an uncertain future, yet stifled by reality; they run, love, and rebel, using their bodies to defy fate.

We find ourselves in similarly turbulent and uncertain times today—characterized by rapid societal change, the restructuring of intimate relationships, and the coexistence of anxiety and desire. Like the youth of the 80s, we seek to counter unease through self-expression, transforming contradiction, vulnerability, and passion into a new language. The narrative of this season centers on the idea that "love is not a private matter." Echoing a line spoken by the character Alex in the film, this concept points to a force that transcends specific objects or identities: love as the burning of life—simultaneously an act of salvation and destruction. The film’s fluid imagery, raw textures, distinctive set elements, costume structures, and an atmosphere that blends unease with an anachronistic romanticism all serve as the starting points for our designs. The prints extend the film’s visual metaphors—speeding motion, collisions, and points of light in the darkness—onto the fabric, creating a narrative that clings close to the body.

The collection as a whole tells a coming-of-age fable for a generation: searching for love in unsettled times—running, falling, and rising again. The garments become a "second skin," simultaneously offering protection and revealing vulnerability. Ultimately, the collection aims not to evoke nostalgia, but to capture that enduring, vivid intensity—a love that transcends the individual and speaks to the very essence of existence.
